Catching a Nexomon
When you throw a Nexotrap, your capture chance is the sum of five parts: food, the trap, how worn down the Nexomon is, its status effects, and other bonuses. Each part has its own limit, and the total is 100 at most.
Food
Each food you feed it adds to the chance, up to 40 in all:
- One of its favourite foods adds 15, and any other food 5. Every stage of a line likes the first stage's favourite foods.
- A Perfect Berry adds 30.
- Each Secret Sauce you carry adds 3 more to every food.
The trap
What the Nexotrap adds:
- A Golden Nexotrap adds 100, a sure catch.
- A Nexotrap of the Nexomon's own element, such as a Fire Nexotrap on a Fire Nexomon, adds 35, and one of any other element 15.
- A plain Nexotrap adds 10.
Wearing it down, and other bonuses
The lower its HP, the more you get, up to 20 when it's nearly out. A status effect on it, any but the helpful ones, adds 10. Each whistle you carry of the Nexomon's element adds 3, and a Dragon Whistle adds 3 against dragons.
Harder catches
Some Nexomon and places lower the numbers:
- Dragons count food other than a Perfect Berry for half, and Nexotraps too, and wearing them down adds at most 15.
- Legendary and Ultimate Nexomon count food for a third, Nexotraps for half and a Perfect Berry as 10, and wearing them down adds at most 10.
- A Golden Nexotrap still adds the full 100 to all of them.
- In Precursor Valley, the Abyssal realm, food adds 10 at most, wearing it down 10, effects and other bonuses 5, and Nexotraps count for about a third.
Cosmic Nexomon
Every Nexomon you meet in the wild has a small chance to be cosmic, a rare look in other colours, and so does the starter you choose. Each Nexomon's page shows its cosmic look. The odds start at 1 in 4,000. They become 1 in 3,500 once you complete the main quest Orphanage in Peril or the strongest Nexomon in your party reaches level 17, and another 500 come off after you beat Jin in Magma Grotto Town, in the main quest Tyrant Mulcimer.
From there, each of these makes the odds better, taking some off that second number:
- Each kind of Nexomon you've seen takes 1 off, and each kind you own 2 more.
- Each Cosmic Charm you carry takes 50 off, for up to 7 of them.
- Each time you've beaten the kind of Nexomon you're meeting takes 1 off, up to 607.
- Luring that kind of Nexomon takes 200 off.
However much you've done, the odds never get better than 1 in 700.
How stats grow
A Nexomon's HP, stamina, ATK, DEF and SPD grow with its level, and faster the higher its base stats. Each Nexomon's page shows them at five levels. Levels stop at 99, unless Custom Mode sets another cap. A Nexomon of tier 2 or above has 20 more stamina for each tier past the first.
