Golden Badge
Edward promotes you to Gold in Guild Interior Frozen Wild, in Frozen Tundra Destroyed Town, which completes the main quest The Cursed Tower. Nothing checks the badge itself. The promotion is what counts.
Until you're Gold, the people in one of the houses in Beach City 3 throw you out as soon as you step in.
